The Providence Ronald McDonald House Running Club will host its second annual PRMH Women's Classic on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Brown Stadium on Providence's East Side. Ann McGowan, recent winner of seven awards at the Senior Olympics in California, will be the honorary starter for the event, proceeds of which will benefit the Providence Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for families whose children are being treated at area hospitals. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome to participate in the festivities, which race organizers are calling "a celebration of women's wellness." The schedule will include: Serving as a kickoff to the event, a VIP reception on Oct. 1 will honor five leading women in the community. The inaugural event drew 630 entrants and race organizers say they are on track to surpass that number this year.
