FLY AWAY 5K- Sunday June 7, 2009

Proceeds will benefit scholarships for Barrington High School Students and the sports programs at Barrington High School and Barrington Middle School.

COURSE:
The 5K is a USATF sanctioned and certified course by Ray Nelson. It heads south on Middle Highway, right on Nayatt Road and along the beautiful Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Country Club, north on Washington Road, right on South Lake Drive, and finishes back at Barrington Middle School on Middle Highway.

The 2 Mile Walk is an out and back, and also heads south on Middle Highway for a view of the Narragansett Bay and turn around at Nayatt Road, and back down Middle Highway to Barrington Middle School.

ENTRY FEE:
$18 -Pre-registration for 5k and 2 mile walk (forms received before June 4)

$10 - Barrington High School Students and Middle School Students- Mail-In registration form only!! No online registration at this special rate!
$10 -Kids Fun Run, age 10 and under.
$20 -Race Day Registration

AWARDS:
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd male and female finishers will receive $100, $75 and $50, respectively. The top team, based on aggregate time of it's top 3 members will receive $50.
Prizes will be given to the top male and female winner in the following age divisions:
Junior (18 and under)
Open (19 -39)
Masters (40-49)
Seniors (50 - 59)
Veterans (60-69)
Grand Veterans (70+)

RACE DAY FUN:
This year's race will showcase lots of Barrington High School Talent! 3 Student Bands, The Valor, Absence of Sin, and Child Harold will be performing before, during and after the race, Clubs and Athletic Teams will help run the Kids Fun Run and Kids Activities, the Graphic Design Students are designing and Tye Dying our Race TShirts!, and the Sun Rise Show, a student run, televised newscast, will help market and promote the race at school for us. The Student Council will be competing, grade against grade, for a participation prize given by Barrington Boosters!

We will also feature great music and MC support from JamStage, lots of local foods and drinks, and a great Prize Raffle!

RECYCLE YOUR STINKY SNEAKS!!!
Our GREEN INITIATIVE!!! Bring your old athletic shoes (but no cleats, please) to be recycled into running tracks in disadvantaged areas worldwide, by Nike. Very popular last year!! We recycled about 150 pair of shoes. WOW!

COMMUNITY ROW:
The race will showcase a "community row" of Healthy-Minded Programs and Organizations from our East Bay Area. Stop by and learn something new!!!

* Rhode Island Community Farms, The Magaziner Farm, Bristol- supplying 15,000 pounds of fresh produce to the the RI Community Food Bank in the '08 growing season, '09 volunteers needed
* WaterRower- jump on and give it a try! You'll be hooked!
* Ullucci Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy- leading participants through some pre-race and post race stretching
* Hampden Meadows Volunteer Fire Company- providing a valuable service to our community- think you can help? Find out!
