Kenya's Salina Kosgei, 10th-place finisher in the marathon at the 2008 Olympic Games, held off a last-second surge by Ethiopia's Dire Tune to win the women's title at the 113th Boston Marathon in 2:32:25.

Tune, who collapsed after crossing the finish line and was taken away in a stretcher, finished second in 2:32:17.

American Kara Goucher, who held a slim lead with a little more than 2 miles to go, placed third in 2:32:25.
