Barrington Firefighters Local 1774 to host Memorial Day Weekend 5k Road Race

The Barrington Firefighters Local 1774 will be hosting a Memorial Day Weekend 5k Road Race this spring. The Firefighters Union will be hosting the 5K road race exclusively as a charity fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds generated from the Barrington RI Firefighters Memorial Day Weekend 5k Road Race will be donated to local charities.

The Barrington RI Firefighters Memorial Day Weekend 5k Road Race is an event to raise money for the Barrington RI Firefighters Charity Fund. The fund was established a number of years ago, for the sole purpose of providing money in the form of sponsorships and donations to various community groups and other worthy causes in and around the town of Barrington, RI.

The road race will be held rain or shine on Sunday May 24th, 2009 at 10am. The race starts and finishes at Barrington High School and will travel along Lincoln Avenue, Upland Way, Foote Street, Prince's Hill Avenue, Maple Avenue, and Middle Highway.

The 5K run is open to the public. Prizes donated by sponsors will be awarded to top runners. Post event festivities include runners' raffle, music/DJ, refreshments, professional booths, and even a few surprises. Runners of all levels are encouraged to participate.

Pre-event electronic registration is $20 (register online at www.needtorace.com). Mail-in registration is $23; and event-day registration is $25 (8:00am till 9:45am 05/24/09).

Free parking will be available at Barrington High School, and refreshments donated by sponsors will be available before and after the race. All participants whom register by May 20th, 2009 will receive an official Barrington RI Firefighters Memorial Day Weekend 5K T-shirt.

Details: 5K (3.1 mile) Run - The Run will be professionally timed.

Entry Fee: $20 electronic pre-registration; $ 23 mail-in registration (forms received May 20th); and $25 race day registration (event day registration 8:00am till 9:45am).
