Thirteen children at the Meeting Street School have been training diligently three times a week for the past 3 ½ months. Their goal: To compete in tomorrow’s CVS All Kids Can race, which is part of the extensive series of youth races that will be held in Providence just prior to the CVS Caremark Downtown 5K. Scheduled to run at 9:28 a.m., in between the fifth-grade boys and sixth-grade girls races, they will charge 200 meters up Francis Street with a roaring crowd cheering them all the way. ``They’re always excited to come down (and train),’’ said Meeting Street's adapted physical education teacher Mary Cooper. ``They try to keep up with each other. It’s nice not to see anybody stop, and it’s nice to see kids run for the joy of it.’’
Seeing what a great experience 17-year-old Meeting Street student Kyle Cordeiro, who is confined to a wheelchair, had at last year’s race, Cooper sent a letter home with all of her students in June asking if anyone would like to participate. ``I got 13 responses,’’ she said. ``We have students from 2 to first grade. I hope it grows every year.’’
