The Providence Ronald McDonald House sends along this info on its 17th annual Walk Festival to be held Sunday: Registration is $20 and is available online at www.prmh.org, by calling (401) 274-4447 or can be done the day of the event. This includes the 5K walk or a 1-mile children’s walk, a continental breakfast and a barbeque lunch, as well as all of the day’s activities. A children’s village, rock climbing wall, Radio Disney, Toe Jam Puppet Band, the Zoomobile a vendor’s fair and Ronald McDonald are just a few of the day’s exciting activities. The walk Honorary Committee will be chaired by Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline. Committee members include; Mayor Michael Napolitano, Mayor of Cranston; Karen Adams, WPRI 12 Anchor; Joseph F. Amaral MD, Rhode Island Hospital President & CEO; Jim Barron, URI Men’s Basketball Coach; Dr. John Bowen, Johnson & Wales University President; Nick, Ron and Peter Cardi, Cardi’s Furniture Superstores; Paul Choquette Jr., Gilbane Inc. Chairman; Hon. Charles J. Fogarty, RI Lieutenant Governor 1998-2006; Edwin Foreman, MD, Hasbro Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology; Michael Goldberger, Brown University Athletic Director; Constance A. Howes, Women & Infants’ Hospital President & CEO; Ben Mondor, Pawtucket Red Sox owner; Mark Patinkin, Author Columnist, The Providence Journal; Pablo Rodriguez MD, Women & Infants’ Hospital Associate Chief OBGYN; Rev. The Providence Ronald McDonald House a nonprofit organization that serves as a home to families whose children are receiving medical care for premature birth, serious injury, illness or surgery at Women & Infants, Hasbro Children’s, Rhode Island and Bradley Hospitals. The goal of the House is to make a difficult time in an unfamiliar place as normal and comfortable as possible for guests going through a stressful and challenging time in their lives.
