The Christmas Run/Walk for Home & Hospice Care of R.I. will hold its 23rd annual road race, Sunday at 10 a.m. in Newport.

Since its inception, the event has raised more than $50,000, first supporting the HOPE Center for Cancer Support and now Home & Hospice Care of R.I., says race director Melanie Cahill

HHCRI, which has three locations in Pawtucket, Providence and Wakefield, provides a range of services for patients who are in various stages of life threatening illness.

``In addition to paid staff, they also have a fabulous volunteer corps,'' says Cahill.
