"The Knights of Columbus 5K Road Race, long a quaint and scenic run through Westerly's historic North End and a characteristically small (50 - 60 runner) event, has had its share of surprises through its 25 years. A few races back it's recalled when Providence College All-American and Olympian Amy Rudolph paid a visit while rehabbing an injury and ran away with the womens' title. This year's race provided another spark when former nationally-ranked runner and Brown University grad Anne Hird showed up to check out the scenery while also scoring a top finish for the women.''
