Smythe, Belilgne victorious at Nifty 50

Brad Smythe set out from the Gaudet Middle School in Middletown at 7 a.m. Six hours, 49 minutes and 3 seconds later, the 28-year-old from Canton, N.C. returned to the school track the winner of the Nifty 50 Road Race.

Barrington's Andrew Sabourin placed fifth in the ultra event, held in conjunction with the Breakers Marathon, with a time of 7:39:16.

Admas Belilgne, 53, of New York City was the first woman, finishing 15th overall in 9:26:15, just under 2 minutes ahead of women's runner-up Gina Fiandaca, 41, of East Boston.
