The Barrington Eagle Speed Running Club enjoyed another strong showing in the youth race series held in conjunction with the CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K earlier this month. The club sent in this report on its runners' accomplishments that day: In the 1500 meter race, four of the team's 8th grade girls captured four of the top 8 spots. Leading the way was Abigial Jones, who won the race in 4 minutes 58 seconds; fourth was Alexandra August, 5:17; sixth place went to Molly Malinowski in 5:29 and Kelly Shah came in eighth with a time of 5:43. The foursome, who run for the Barrington Middle School, will be defending their state middle school cross country title in the coming weeks. Among the 8th grade boys, Scott Clemens, finished 8th with a time of 5:08. In the 7th grade boys race, Drew Beck, who recently moved to Barrington from Fairfax, Va., ran a 4:53 and finished second; while Ryan Saeger placed seventh with a time of 5:27.
