The team competition has always been a fun aspect of the CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K, and it's never too soon to begin forming your own team for the event. Here are some more details, provided courtesy of CVS: Registration is open for all runners who would like to run as a team in the 2006 CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K on Sunday, September 17th. Teams are comprised of a minimum of three or more runners representing corporations/organizations, police departments and fire departments. Any number of runners or walkers can be on a team, but the top three finishers will be the scoring team members. “Joining the CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K as a team is a really fun way to participate in the race,” said Charlie Breagy, CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K Race Director. “We see runners of all ages competing as teams – many even print special t-shirts to show their team spirit.” All team members signing up for the CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K must work for or be a member of the corporation/organization. Part time employees can also run for a corporate team. Consultants can run with corporate teams if they are currently working 20 hours or more. Elementary and Middle Schools teams are encouraged to enter teams in the youth races. High School teams should register for the High School Inspirational 3K. Team Captains or leaders need to register their team online at www.cvsdowntown5k.com and receive approval before team members can sign up. Corporate Team members can sign up on line at www.cvsdowntown5k.com and “CVS/pharmacy encourages runners of all ages and abilities to participate in the Downtown 5K. With the addition of the Fire and Police Department categories last year and the new “CVS All Kids Can” race this year, we are looking forward to our biggest race yet,” said Eileen Howard Dunn, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Community Relations at CVS/pharmacy. Last year the firefighters won the inaugural team competition between the top 50 firefighters and police officers. This addition to the corporate team event created a lot of excitement last year between the two forces.
